Meet Rick Craven - CEO / Construction Manager


Rick brings a commonsense approach to construction and is a master at sequencing work activities. He is focused on employee safety and manages quality control, schedule and safety as well as for project tracking and reporting. He also has years of self-perform knowledge.

Rick has over 41 years of construction experience in various markets including aviation, education, municipal, water, government, commercial, healthcare and industrial.

As Project General Superintendent & Construction Manager, Rick takes responsibility for scope for the construction project and directs all trades. He develops construction techniques and methods, materials handling, crew sizes and deployment, equipment requirements and task sequences. He purchases general materials and requisitions rental equipment and verifies drawings and coordinates shop drawings. He is also responsible for day-to-day quality control for work and enforces a safety culture and environment on the project.

AVIATION PROJECTS

JAA Boeing MRO Hangar, Jacksonville, FL. CMAR, $172.6 million, 365,800 SF. Project General Superintendent for a Boeing’s maintenance, repair, overhaul (MRO) facility including 264,860 SF maintenance bays, 51,040 SF of shops and 49,865 SF of offices and employee support functions. The auxiliary buildings include a 2,500 SF facilities maintenance office, 925 SF egress shop, 7200 SF central energy plant and fire pump house and 150 SF guard shack.

Gulfstream SWQ Service Center Phases I and II, Savannah, GA. Design-build, $84.7 million, 546,000 SF. hangar, shop and office space. Additional buildings for central energy plant (CEP), cafeteria, security guard house, jet A fuel farm and waste treatment facility were part of site scope. This was a 78-acre greenfield development which included 1.5 million SF of aircraft ramp. LEED Silver. Rick was project superintendent.

Gulfstream Westfield MRO Service Center, Westfield, MA. Design-build, $24 million, 103,000 SF. Business jet Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) service center includes: hangar, shop areas, offices, aircraft aprons and taxiways. Conventional steel frame, interior Hangar 41-foot clear height; 150-foot clear-span; hangar door 28-foot clear height opening. Perimeter concrete tilt panel and insulated metal panel wall systems and high expansion foam fire protection system.

Gulfstream South Campus Renovations, Savannah, GA. Design-build, $6.5 million, 5,000 SF. Two-story office space along with hangar door expansions and the addition of a 5,000 SF new shop area, 50,000 SF of ramp, 2 TM towers and new fire pump room.

EDUCATION PROJECTS

Tiger Academy Charter Elementary School, Jacksonville, FL. Design-build, $8.6 million, 32,650 SF. New elementary school for grades Pre-K – fifth grade with 306-student stations on a 6.6-acre site. Main building includes classrooms, administration, media center and public conference room. Second building houses the cafeteria/multi-purpose room with a small stage and warming kitchen, which is connected to the main building with a covered walkway. Rick was project superintendent.


UCF Parking Garage H, Orlando, FL. Design-build, $13.1 million, 400,000 SF. 1,326-space, four-level, event garage with an internal stormwater retention vault that provides an educational opportunity on the restoration of wetlands, sustainable design and construction, and thermal energy storage.

MUNICIPAL PROJECTS

Boynton Beach City Hall/Library and Central Energy Plant, Boynton Beach, FL. Project General Superintendent for a Design-build, $55 million, 102,000 SF. Redevelopment of city blocks in downtown Boynton Beach including all new utilities, roads, parks, playgrounds, amphitheater and associated amenities. As a component of this redevelopment, Haskell constructed the new City Hall/Library Building and 2,700 ton Central Energy Plant (CEP).

Jacksonville Sports Complex and Arena Parking Garages, Jacksonville, FL. Design-build, $15.5 million, 499,269 total SF. 1,417 total parking spaces in two structures to support the Sports and Entertainment District in downtown Jacksonville. Each structure architecturally mirrors the scale, proportion, details and materials of the new state-of-the-art arena and baseball stadium.


Nassau County Judicial Complex, Nassau, County, FL. Construction management, $17.1 million, 111,600 SF. Two/three story courthouse complex with seven story clock tower. Concrete tilt-up panel with brick veneer and architectural precast accent elements; standing seam metal roof.

WATER PROJECTS

Diageo North America Beverage Manufacturing Line Improvements, Plainfield, IL. Design-build, $43 million. 200,000 SF. Warehouse renovation to accommodate process and packaging lines.

Müller Quaker Dairy Yogurt Manufacturing Facility and WTP, Batavia, NY. Design-build, $111 million, 363,000 SF. This manufacturing facility consisted of a main production facility and auxiliary buildings and a new industrial pre-treatment facility to treat wastewater flows generated by the operation of the Greek yogurt manufacturing plant. Wastewater generated from the yogurt process is pre-treated to discharge limits prior to distribution to the Town of Batavia municipal wastewater system.

GOVERNMENT PROJECTS

NAVFAC/USMC MV-22 Hangar and Parking Garage, Camp Lejeune, NC. Project General Superintendent for a Design-build, $157 Million. 1,300-foot long hangar with 2 story office and shops along the rear of the hangar, and a 4-level, 1,254 parking space garage with a photovoltaic rooftop farm. Work also included relocating four recreational fields including concession stand with restrooms as well as necessary fencing, water, storm, electrical and telephone infrastructure to make a complete and usable complex and incidental related work.


US Navy Small Arms Firing Range, NSB Kings Bay, GA. Design-build, $4.9 million, 31,000 SF. Indoor firing range with offices and training rooms, tilt-up panel construction, range equipment and installation, grading, drainage, exterior lighting and granite gravel base parking.

GENERAL PROJECTS

Lakeview Health Phase II, Jacksonville, FL. CMAR, $3.7 million, 17,500 SF. Three, one and two-story additions to the existing Adult Behavioral Center. Rick was project superintendent.


BCBS Deerwood Campus Expansion and Parking Garage, Jacksonville, FL. CMAR, $111.8 million, 1,000,000 SF. Multi-phase project consisting of seven office buildings and a 1,500 space, 4-story parking garage.

PMI ZYN Process & Distribution Facility, Aurora, CO. Construction Manager for a Design-Build $750 million, 386,000 SF Facility,80,000 SF Central Energy Plant, 4,500 SF Ethanal Storage Building, 10,000 SF Generator, 2,200 SF Water & 1,800 SF Fire Pump Buildings along with 2- 300 SF Guard Shacks on a 150 Acre Greenfield Site.

In-N-Out, Lancaster, TX. Project General Superintendent for a Design-build, $72 million, 190,000 SF. Burger patty and spread manufacturing facility. Includes the construction of utility and support structures, warehouse coolers, offices and driver area, a guard shack, a trash enclosure, a wastewater treatment plant and fire pump room.

Zataran’s Plant Expansion. Design-build, $9.5 million, 65,000 SF. Food processing building with process, packaging, warehouse, QA and maintenance.
